The Hutton House

Palm Beach in Minnesota: a summer editorial

Juicy colors. Lush flowers. Breezy summer patterns. Palm Beach in Minnesota.
That was the moodboard for this vibrant, joy-filled styled shoot—and it delivered in every delicious detail.

Our backdrop was The Hutton House, a premier luxury venue just minutes from downtown Minneapolis. With its clean lines, airy spaces, and lush courtyard, it was the perfect canvas to layer in bold color and playful, resort-inspired touches.

The Invitation Suite

I began with a soft blue, peach, and sunny yellow palette—fresh, happy, and sophisticated. A custom yellow cabana stripe lined the envelopes, echoing the cheerful striped chairs in the courtyard. For a touch of vintage charm, I sourced a peacock-inspired artwork in the perfect palette and used it as a vellum wrap around the invitations. That same artwork became the backdrop for detail shots of the rings, weaving the color story through every layer.

Each card in the suite was thoughtfully die-cut: the invitation with double-rounded corners for a softer shape, the details card with a scalloped edge, and the RSVP in the same double-rounded silhouette as the invite. Stacked together, the shapes created quiet dimension—playful, but still elegant and timeless.

Font pairings balanced a graceful modern calligraphy script with a classic serif, printed in soft blue for a whisper of color that remained easy to read. Hand-drawn elements sprinkled throughout added a lighthearted, bespoke feel. A silky blue ribbon tied around the vintage artwork brought everything together in a way that felt effortlessly elevated.

The Table & Menus

The tablescape was a true summer dream—teal linens, bold patterned napkins, airy woven chargers, and menus in a bright coral scalloped shape. Each menu was wrapped in a translucent cabana-striped vellum band with the guest’s name handwritten in modern calligraphy—doubling as a chic place card.

Down the center of the table, lush blooms spilled from low arrangements, creating a relaxed yet refined conversation zone. Small wicker lamps brought texture and a hint of coastal charm, while gold flatware and crystal glassware played up the luxury.

The Bar & Signature Sips

The bar carried the same joyful energy, styled with bowls of fresh grapefruit, lemons, and oranges that looked as if they’d been plucked from a sunny Florida grove. A wicker frame displayed the Signature Sips menu—playful, summery cocktails like The Blush Breeze and The Golden Hour, each as photogenic as they were refreshing.

The Vibe

From the cheerful stripes to the saturated florals, from the citrus-stacked bar to the vintage-inspired stationery, every detail sang in harmony. This shoot wasn’t just about summer—it was about capturing that carefree, sun-dappled feeling of a Palm Beach afternoon and bottling it up in Minnesota.

Because sometimes, all it takes is the right color palette, a dash of vintage charm, and a whole lot of citrus to make you feel like you’re on vacation—no plane ticket required.
